Fuel oil is a residue of crude oil distillation and is a type of industrial fuel. This material comprises hydrocarbons, petroleum resins, bitumens, carbenes, carboides and metal-containing organic compounds.
Fuel oil is used to fuel various boiler plants, steam generators and industrial furnaces. The main consumer of this raw material is industrial sector, housing and utilities infrastructure. Russia successfully exports fuel oil that ranks number four in the Russian exports after oil, gas and diesel fuel. Further processing of fuel oil yields various industrial oils. Refining produces tar residue that is used for production of bitumen and for other purposes.
